Are there other endeavors you go into aside from your band? Yes. Aside from my band, Turbo Goth, I'm a tattoo artist and freelance illustrator and graphic artist as well. And when I'm not busy, I sometimes model and host occasionally. You can check out my works at www.purpleturtlealien.multiply.com
How do you balance your time between regular work and gigs? I don't have regular work. I tattoo by appointment, I illustrate on my own time and our Manager is in charge of our gig schedules for my band, Turbo Goth.
Do you believe in seducing the crowd? Generally speaking, I do not seduce the crowd intentionally. I guess it just happens sometimes. Every gig is different so i sometimes do different things depending on the crowd that's there. I do seduce sometimes, when i can see an uptight group of yuppies.. hehehe. I'll give them something to be uptight about. I mean, come on just enjoy the performance already! (smiles) I strongly encourage those who haven't seen our band yet, to go see our band perform live!
What song does the crowd like the most? We try to play more of our upbeat, riot songs and avoid playing songs that I personally wouldn't pay much attention to. Our Genre of music is Rock but to be more specific, it's Synth-Rock/Electro-Pop. And though, our band name is Turbo Goth, we are not goth. We have a single that is out under Lilystars Records titled “Morning Swim” available on iTunes and Amazon. Link to the relase www.lilystars-records.com/releases/morningswim
What's the best thing about being a vocalist? Being able to sing my music. The best thing is being able to preform the songs I write and share our music with people. I get a good feeling when I see the people responding positively to our music and performance. Next best thing would be dressing up and getting photographed all the time... And when random people know us even when we're not at a gig.
When you're performing, is there a conscious effort to inspire people? I think that's a given. That's part of the point of why we perform. I do want to inspire people that i its possible to break norms.
What do you think is the best song that best defines your life now? She’s in fashion by Suede
Summarize your accomplishments as an artist. Judge and presenter for logo design contest for the NU Rock Awards, finalist for the Myx VJ Search, featured in Status Magazine as Sarah Gaugler in Muse Section, featured in UNO Magazine as tattoo artist, featured as one of the 9-bands in UNO Magazine, featured in Status Magazine for Turbo Goth, winner of the 21st Awit Awards 2008 for album packaging and design of Moonlane Gardens by Orange and Lemons , featured as one of 24 of the Most Creative Pinoys in Preview Magazine, featured artist in Rogue Magazine, featured artist in Meg Magazine, featured artist in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. I've done so many things in just three years. I'm only 22, and I plan to do much, much more.
What do you prefer? Being labeled as a good musician or a sexy singer? Of course, I'd rather be labeled as a good musician. I'm an artist, and I always try my best to be good at what I do. Me being sexy is just me trying to be healthy.
How does it feel being the only female member of a band? My band, Turbo Goth, is a two piece band. That means it's just me and Paolo (Peralta), so it's not really a big deal that I'm the only girl, coz he's the only boy in my band too. hehehe. When i guest with another band of boys, I don't feel any different than when I sing with my own band. Male or Female, Female or Male, we're all human, it doesn't matter. I'd feel weird singing with a group of Cats and Dogs... or with a group of Elephants balancing on a unicycle.
